• Prabhu was already a star when he signed Needhiyin Nizhal (1985). Vinu Chakravarthy was a character actor making his directorial debut. Vinu had to convince Prabhu's father, the legendary Sivaji Ganesan, that he could handle a big hero. Sivaji gave the nod only after Vinu narrated the entire script to him at home.
• On the sets of Poovizhi Raja (1988), Vinu Chakravarthy would let Prabhu improvise his comedy lines. Prabhu would try three or four variations of a single dialogue. Vinu would pick the best take and then rewrite the next scene to match Prabhu's rhythm. That film became a sleeper hit largely because of that back-and-forth.
• Vetri Karangal (1991) was the film that launched the 'Prabhu as a mass action hero' template. Before this, Prabhu was mostly known for family dramas. Vinu Chakravarthy wrote the climax fight specifically to show Prabhu's raw physicality. That single scene directly inspired the action style of Prabhu's later hits like Chinna Gounder.
• Vinu Chakravarthy and Prabhu shared a ritual on every film: before the first day of shoot, Vinu would give Prabhu a new shirt. Prabhu would wear it on the first shot. Vinu said it brought 'fresh energy' to the frame. Prabhu kept all five shirts in a separate cupboard at home.
