• Prabhu and Nalini first paired up in Nyayam (1984) because the director, K. Vijayan, specifically wanted a fresh, young pair to carry a family drama. He cast them together without any screen test — just saw their photos and said yes.
• In Raja Rishi (1985), Nalini’s character was the emotional anchor while Prabhu played the impulsive hero. She reportedly slowed down her dialogue delivery on set to match his natural rhythm, which made their scenes feel more grounded than the usual melodrama of the time.
• Their third film together, Saadhanai (1986), was a sleeper hit that directly led to Prabhu being cast in his first major solo-hero project, Manaivi Ready (1987). Nalini’s strong performance in Saadhanai convinced producers she could carry a film opposite a rising star — and that opened doors for both of them.
• During the shoot of Palaivana Rojakkal (1986), Prabhu and Nalini developed a habit of sharing filter coffee between takes. Nalini later said in a 1990s interview that Prabhu would always bring her a cup before she asked — and that ritual continued through all four films.
• Nalini once told a magazine: 'Prabhu was the only co-star who never made me feel like I was acting. He’d just look at me, and I’d forget the camera.' She said this in a 1987 interview with Kumudam.
