• They first shared screen space in 'Sumangali' (1983), but the pairing almost didn't happen. Director R. Thyagarajan was hesitant to cast Silk Smitha opposite Prabhu because she was known for bold roles and he was a debut hero from a conservative family. Prabhu personally insisted she was right for the part.
• In 'Vellai Roja' (1983), Prabhu deliberately slowed down his dialogue delivery to match Silk Smitha's natural rhythm. She later told a magazine that he was the only co-star who adjusted his timing for her, making their scenes feel like a real conversation instead of a rehearsed performance.
• During the shoot of 'Tharaasu' (1984), Prabhu would bring homemade snacks from his mother's kitchen to set every day. Silk Smitha, who often worked through meals, started eating properly only because he sat with her and shared his tiffin. She mentioned this in a 1985 interview.
• Their film 'Iru Medhaigal' (1984) was the first Tamil movie to feature a female stunt double for a romantic lead. Silk Smitha insisted on doing her own fight scene, but Prabhu convinced the director to hire a double after she got a minor injury on day one. That double later became a regular stunt coordinator in Kollywood.
• Silk Smitha once said about Prabhu: 'He never looked at me like I was a glamour doll. On set, he treated me like a co-star. That's why I did five films with him in one year.' She said this in a 1984 interview with 'Kumudam' magazine.
