• For Paruthiveeran (2007), director Ameer wanted a raw, unfamiliar face for the villain. He spotted Sampath Raj in a small role in Kamaraj (2004) — their first film together — and decided to cast him opposite Samuthirakani. That role made Sampath a household name in Tamil cinema.
• In Kaala (2018), Samuthirakani played Rajinikanth's son. Sampath Raj played the antagonist. Their face-off scene in the climax — where Samuthirakani's character confronts Sampath's — was shot in one continuous take. Samuthirakani later said Sampath's intensity pushed him to deliver his best performance in the film.
• Samuthirakani and Sampath Raj have been close friends since Kamaraj (2004). On the sets of Paruthiveeran, they shared a room for three months. Sampath once said Samuthirakani taught him how to break down a script scene-by-scene — a habit he still follows.
• "Samuthirakani is the reason I became an actor. He pushed me to take Paruthiveeran. I owe my career to him." — Sampath Raj, in a 2018 interview with The Hindu.
• The success of Paruthiveeran (2007) directly led to Ameer casting Sampath Raj in his next film, Ameerin Aadhi Baghavan (2013). That film launched Sampath as a full-time villain in Tamil cinema — a career path that started because Samuthirakani vouched for him to Ameer.
