• Rama Narayanan cast Nizhalgal Ravi in Peyveedu (1984) after seeing his intense performance in a small role in another film. Ravi was still a newcomer, and this was the film that gave him his first real break as a lead.
• In Aadi Velli (1990), Rama Narayanan wrote the climax specifically around Ravi's ability to deliver long, unbroken monologues. Ravi would rehearse the entire speech in one take, and Narayanan would just let the camera roll — no cuts, no retakes.
• Their 1992 film Madha Komadha was one of the earliest Tamil horror films to use a fully synchronized background score instead of relying on stock sound effects. That approach later influenced low-budget horror directors in the early 2000s.
• Rama Narayanan and Nizhalgal Ravi never socialized outside sets. Ravi once said in an interview that their entire relationship was 'strictly professional' — they'd finish a shot, nod at each other, and walk away. No phone calls, no dinners.
• In Sivashankari (1992), Rama Narayanan deliberately gave Ravi no dialogue for the first 20 minutes. He wanted the audience to read Ravi's fear through his eyes alone. Ravi later said that was the hardest role Narayanan ever gave him.
