• Kamal Haasan personally called Vadivelu to offer him the role in Thevar Magan (1992). Vadivelu was a struggling stage actor at the time. Kamal had seen him perform in a small play and decided he was perfect for the comic relief in his serious family drama.
• In Singaravelan (1992), Kamal deliberately slowed down his own delivery to match Vadivelu's rhythm. He told the director that Vadivelu's timing was unique — if they rushed him, the joke would die. So Kamal let Vadivelu set the pace in every scene they shared.
• During the shoot of Maharasan (1993), Vadivelu was so nervous acting opposite Kamal that he kept flubbing his lines. Kamal took him aside, told him to stop thinking of him as a star, and said, 'Just treat me like the fool in the scene.' Vadivelu later said that moment changed his career.
• Kaathala Kaathala (1998) was the first Tamil film where Kamal Haasan played a full-on double role in a comedy. Vadivelu's improvisations in that film — especially the 'telephone booth' scene — directly inspired the comic tone of Kamal's later hit Panchatanthiram (2002).
• Vadivelu once said in an interview: 'Kamal sir didn't just give me a role. He gave me a classroom. Every scene with him was a free acting lesson.' He said this during a 2010 TV interview on Kalaignar TV.
• After Kaathala Kaathala (1998), the two never worked together again. No fight, no fallout — Kamal simply stopped making broad comedies, and Vadivelu became the biggest comic star in Tamil cinema. They stayed friendly but never found the right script to reunite.
