• Sathyaraj was a rising villain when he signed Paayum Puli (1983). Jaishankar was the established hero. The director, S. P. Muthuraman, paired them specifically to create a rare hero-villain combo where both had equal screen presence — and it worked so well they made four more films together.
• In Paayum Puli, Jaishankar played the calm, righteous hero while Sathyaraj played the explosive antagonist. Their acting styles were opposites — Jaishankar understated, Sathyaraj loud — and that contrast became the template for their later films together.
