• Director K. Shankar cast Gemini Ganesan in Kairasi (1960) only after MGR turned down the role. Gemini stepped in last minute and the film became a hit, locking them into a four-year run together.
• On the sets of Aadi Perukku (1962), Gemini Ganesan would rewrite his own dialogues in the morning, and Shankar would re-shoot the scenes in the afternoon to match the new lines. They worked like a two-man rewrite team on the fly.
• Paadha Kannikkai (1962) was the first Tamil film to use a fully synchronized song sequence shot on location at a real waterfall. Shankar and Gemini pushed the production team to haul heavy cameras into the forest — no one had done that before in Tamil cinema.
• After Ezhai Pangalan (1963) wrapped, Gemini Ganesan stopped returning Shankar's calls. Shankar later told a magazine that Gemini 'just vanished' from his life — no fight, no reason. They never worked together again after Veerakkanal (1964).
• K. Shankar once said: 'Gemini would walk into the shot looking bored, and the moment the camera rolled, his eyes would light up like a switch was flipped. I never understood how he did it, but I built every scene around that switch.'
