• Sridevi was just 9 years old when she first acted opposite V. K. Ramasamy in 'Sange Muzhangu' (1972). He was already a veteran character actor in his 50s. The director paired them because Ramasamy's stern screen presence was the perfect foil for the child star's precocious energy.
• In 'Adutha Varisu' (1983), Ramasamy played Sridevi's strict father. Their scenes worked because he deliberately underplayed his anger — letting her over-the-top emotional outbursts do the heavy lifting. He told the crew he was 'the wall she could bounce off.'
• On the sets of 'Thanikattu Raja' (1982), Ramasamy would bring homemade snacks for Sridevi between shots. She later recalled that he treated her like a granddaughter, not a co-star — always checking if she had eaten and scolding her if she skipped meals.
