• Kamal Haasan personally recommended Ganthimathi for her role in Naan Avanillai (1974) after seeing her stage work. He told the director she had the exact 'raw energy' the character needed.
• In Thevar Magan (1992), Kamal deliberately slowed down his delivery in every scene with Ganthimathi. He said later that her natural rhythm forced him to 'earn every pause' — something he never did with other co-stars.
• Ganthimathi called Kamal 'my son' off-camera from their second film onwards. He would pick her up from her house for every shoot of Unnai Suttrum Ulagam (1977) because she refused to travel alone.
• The mother-son dynamic they perfected in Thevar Magan (1992) directly inspired the casting of the same pair in Virumaandi (2004). Kamal wrote the mother role specifically for Ganthimathi, saying no one else could carry that weight.
