• Gunasekhar cast Brahmanandam in 'Choodalani Vundi' (1998) after seeing his comic timing in a stage play. Brahmanandam was initially hesitant because the role was small, but Gunasekhar convinced him by rewriting the character to have a longer arc.
• On the sets of 'Varudu' (2010), Gunasekhar let Brahmanandam improvise most of his dialogue. Brahmanandam would deliver three or four alternate versions of each line, and Gunasekhar picked the funniest one in the edit — a method they repeated for 'Nippu' (2012).
• Brahmanandam and Gunasekhar share a ritual: before every film they worked on together, Gunasekhar would call Brahmanandam to discuss the character's backstory over a cup of coffee. Brahmanandam later said this helped him 'find the soul of the joke'.
• The comic track Brahmanandam played in 'Rudramadevi' (2015) — a bumbling royal courtier — was so popular that Gunasekhar later wrote a similar character for a different actor in his next film, 'Sita Ramam' (2022).
• Gunasekhar once said in an interview: 'Brahmanandam doesn't just act — he listens to the silence between the lines. That's why I kept casting him even when the roles were small.'
