Partnership facts

• Their first film together, Rowdy Alludu (1991), almost didn't happen. Chiranjeevi personally requested Brahmanandam to be cast after seeing his work in a small role. Brahmanandam later said he was nervous acting opposite a megastar that early in his career.
• In Muta Mesthri (1993), Brahmanandam's character was written as a straight man to Chiranjeevi's hero. But on set, Brahmanandam kept improvising one-liners that made Chiranjeevi break character mid-scene. The director finally let him go wild, and the film became a comedy template for their later pairings.
• Their 1998 film Choodalani Vundi introduced a new comedy track style in Telugu cinema — the 'hero's sidekick who steals the show.' Brahmanandam's role as 'Brahmi' in that film directly inspired a wave of similar comic sidekick characters in the early 2000s, including in films like Manmadhudu.
• Brahmanandam has said in interviews that Chiranjeevi was the first star to treat him as an equal on set. On the sets of Mechanic Alludu (1993), Chiranjeevi insisted Brahmanandam sit next to him in the vanity van during breaks — a gesture that stunned the junior artistes.
• Brahmanandam once said: 'Chiranjeevi garu gave me the confidence to be myself. He never once told me to tone it down. He just laughed and said, 'Do more.' That's rare for a hero.'
• Their last film together, Khaidi No:150 (2017), was Chiranjeevi's comeback after a decade-long break. Brahmanandam's comedy track in that film was the only part that got unanimous praise from critics — and it directly led to Brahmanandam being cast in Chiranjeevi's next film, Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy (2019).
