• In 'Fool n Final' (2007), Om Puri played a bumbling cop chasing Gulshan Grover's gangster. Puri deliberately slowed down his comic timing to let Grover's over-the-top villainy land harder — Grover later said Puri taught him that 'comedy is about giving space, not taking it.'
• Gulshan Grover has said that Om Puri was the only co-star who would call him before every shoot to discuss the scene's 'energy level' — not the lines, just whether they should play it loud or quiet. They never rehearsed a single dialogue together.
• The two first met on the set of 'Fool n Final' (2007) because director Ahmed Khan deliberately paired them — he wanted a 'theatre heavyweight' (Puri) to ground a 'masala villain' (Grover) and see if the clash of styles would pop on screen. It did, so they kept casting them together.
