Singampuli and Yogi Babu appeared together in 17 Tamil films between 2015 and 2026. Their highest-rated collaboration was Aandavan Kattalai (2016 — 7.6/10). Films span Naalu Policeum Nalla Irundha Oorum (2015) through Parimala and Co (2026).
The Singampuli & Yogi Babu partnership
2016 was their peak — 3 films in twelve months. For 11 years, a Singampuli–Yogi film arrived almost every year. From Naalu Policeum Nalla Irundha Oorum (2015) to Parimala and Co (2026).
Their most recent film, Parimala and Co, came out in 2026 — the partnership is still active. Aandavan Kattalai is the one most viewers reach for.
The shape of the work
The 2010s belonged to Aandavan Kattalai; the 2020s to Aranmanai 4. Singampuli acted in every film; Yogi Babu acted in all of them. Strictly Tamil cinema — they never crossed industries together.
Partnership facts
- Their first film together, Naalu Policeum Nalla Irundha Oorum (2015), almost didn't happen. Director S. P. Sakthivel originally cast Singampuli in a different role, but Singampuli pushed for Yogi Babu to be his co-star after seeing him in a small TV skit. He told the director: 'This guy will steal the show if you let him.'
- In Aandavan Kattalai (2016), Singampuli played the straight man to Yogi Babu's chaotic energy. Singampuli later said in an interview that he deliberately slowed his delivery in every scene with Yogi Babu, because 'if I match his speed, the audience won't catch the joke. I have to be the pause button.'
- Their 2019 hit Jagajala Killadi directly inspired director R. Kannan to cast both of them again in Dharma Prabhu (2019) — but this time as antagonists. Kannan said in a press meet: 'I saw their comic timing in Jagajala and thought: what if they hate each other on screen? That tension would be gold.'
- On the sets of Bayam Oru Payanam (2016), Yogi Babu was so nervous about his first horror-comedy that Singampuli made him a deal: every time Yogi Babu flubbed a line, Singampuli would buy him a cup of tea. By the end of the shoot, Yogi Babu had gained 4 kilos and zero flubs in the final take.
- Their 2024 film Aranmanai 4 became a blockbuster, but it also launched a new trend: both actors now get separate comedy tracks in horror films. Before this, Tamil horror-comedies usually gave one comedian the entire comic relief. After Aranmanai 4's success, three upcoming 2025 horror films have announced dual-comedian casts.
