• They first shared screen space in Rendu (2006), but neither was the lead. Santhanam played a sidekick to R. Madhavan, while Thambi Ramaiah played a small role as a villager. The director, Sundar C., saw their timing in that film and deliberately paired them again in Malai Malai (2009) — that's when their double-act was born.
• In Inimey Ippadithaan (2015), Santhanam played a fast-talking conman and Thambi Ramaiah played his slow, gullible uncle. The comedy came from Santhanam rushing his lines while Thambi Ramaiah deliberately paused mid-sentence — they built a rhythm where one's speed fed the other's silence.
