• In Velayudham (2011), Ilavarasu played a stern father figure while Santhanam delivered the comic relief. Their scenes together worked because Ilavarasu never cracked a smile — he let Santhanam's frantic energy bounce off his deadpan silence. That contrast made every exchange land harder.
• Santhanam and Ilavarasu never shared a single scene in Veeram (2014). Ilavarasu played a village elder in one track, Santhanam was the hero's sidekick in another. They were in the same film but never crossed paths on set — their 'collaboration' that year was purely on the call sheet.
• Their first film together, Velayudham (2011), was also the first time either of them worked with director Mohan Raja.
