• Sundar C. didn't plan to cast Senthil in 'Janakiraman' (1997). He wanted a fresh face for the comic sidekick role. Senthil walked into the office unannounced and begged for a chance. Sundar gave him one scene to prove himself — and kept him for the whole film.
• In 'Azhagarsamy' (1999), Sundar C. wrote the comedy track specifically around Senthil's timing. He'd let Senthil improvise on set, then rewrite the next day's scenes to match his rhythm. That's why Senthil's lines feel looser and more natural than the rest of the cast.
• The only hit they made together — 'Unnai Kann Theduthey' (2000) — launched a minor trend in Tamil cinema: the 'hero with a clumsy best friend who accidentally solves the plot'. You can see its DNA in later films like 'Thirumalai' (2003) and 'Sivakasi' (2005).
• Sundar C. and Senthil never hung out outside sets. No phone calls, no dinners. But on shoot days, Sundar would bring Senthil a cup of tea every morning — same time, same spot. Senthil later said that small ritual made him feel like Sundar actually cared about him as a person.
• Senthil once told a magazine: 'Sundar sir is the only director who let me be stupid on screen without making me feel stupid in real life.' He said this in a 2001 interview for 'Ullam Kollai Poguthae'.
