• In 'Krodhi' (1981), Pran played the villain who kills Dharmendra's family. But off-screen, Pran was the one who taught Dharmendra how to pace his dialogue delivery for maximum impact in emotional scenes — a trick Dharmendra used in their courtroom face-off in 'Insaaf Kaun Karega' (1987).
• Dharmendra and Pran had a standing bet on every film set: whoever flubbed a line first had to buy lunch for the entire crew. Pran, known for his perfect diction, almost never lost — except once on 'Naukar Biwi Ka' (1983), when he deliberately messed up a line so the junior artists could eat well that day.
• They weren't supposed to share screen space in 'Khuda Kasam' (1981). The script had Pran as a cameo. But Dharmendra insisted Pran's role be expanded after reading the first draft together — he told the director, 'If he's not in every scene, the film has no soul.'
• Their pairing in 'Raaj Tilak' (1984) directly inspired the 1990 Amitabh-Dharmendra film 'Aaj Ka Arjun' — the producer saw how audiences reacted to Dharmendra playing a loyal friend to a morally grey Pran, and wanted to replicate that dynamic with a bigger budget.
• Pran once told a film magazine in 1985: 'Dharam is the only co-star who would argue with the director to give me a better death scene. He said, "If you die badly, the audience won't hate you enough." He was right.'
