• Senthil was a struggling comedian when Nalini, already a star after 'Ninaithale Inikkum', specifically asked the director of 'Nalla Naal' to cast him opposite her. She had seen his stage work and insisted he was the only one who could match her timing.
• In 'Nalla Naal', Nalini deliberately slowed down her delivery in every comedy scene to let Senthil's reactions land first. She told the cinematographer to hold on his face an extra beat before cutting to her. That rhythm became their signature.
• During the disastrous shoot of 'Alai Osai' (1985), Senthil and Nalini made a pact: no matter how bad the script got, they would never laugh at each other's flubbed lines on set. They kept it — but both admitted later they cried from holding it in.
• Nalini once said in a 1987 interview: 'Senthil made me work harder. If I came to set lazy, he'd do something so unexpected I'd have to scramble to keep up. He never let me coast.'
• Their only hit together, 'Saadhanai' (1986), directly inspired the template for the 1990s 'comedy couple' trend in Tamil cinema — where the hero's friend and the heroine's friend get their own romantic subplot. Every major comedy duo after them (Goundamani-Senthil included) borrowed that structure.
• After 'Saadhanai' wrapped, Nalini gifted Senthil a gold ring with both their initials engraved. He wore it in every film for the next five years. They never worked together again after 1986, but he still had the ring in 2001 when a fan magazine photographed it.
