• Gemini Ganesan was already a huge star when he agreed to play second lead to Srividya's father M. G. Ramachandran in 'Anbukkor Annan' (1971). Srividya was just 18 and making her debut as a leading lady. Ganesan reportedly told the director he'd do the film only if Srividya's role was written stronger — he wanted to make sure the newcomer held her own against MGR.
• In 'Velli Vizha' (1972), Gemini Ganesan deliberately slowed down his dialogue delivery during their emotional scenes. He told Srividya on set that she had a natural rhythm and he didn't want to rush her. That film's courtroom scene — where she breaks down mid-sentence — was shot in one take because he kept feeding her cues exactly at her pace.
• During the shoot of 'Annai Velankanni' (1971), Gemini Ganesan would bring Srividya fresh jasmine every morning. She later revealed in an interview that he did this because she was homesick and her mother used to do the same. He never missed a single day of shooting that film.
• Their pairing in 'Swami Ayyappan' (1975) was so convincing as a devout mother and son that the film's producer cast them again in a similar devotional role the same year — but Srividya refused. She said she didn't want to be typecast as his on-screen daughter after playing his love interest in three films before that.
• Srividya once said about Gemini Ganesan: 'He treated me like a daughter on set, but when the camera rolled, he looked at me like I was the only woman in the world. That's why our love scenes worked — because he made me feel safe enough to act vulnerable.' She said this in a 1990s interview with a Tamil magazine.
