• Their first film together, Karpagam (1963), was a huge gamble. Director K. S. Gopalakrishnan cast Vijaya opposite Gemini Ganesan when she was just a teenager. Gemini was already a massive star. • Gemini Ganesan was known for his effortless, romantic style. But with Vijaya, he had to step up his game. She was a powerhouse of emotion.
