• Sivakumar was a rising star when he signed Ethiroli (1970), but K. R. Vijaya was already a known name. The director paired them specifically because he wanted a mature actress to balance Sivakumar's raw energy — and Vijaya agreed only after reading the full script in one sitting.
• In Annai Velankanni (1971), Vijaya played the mother while Sivakumar played her son — even though she was only a few years older. She later said she had to consciously slow down her dialogue delivery so his younger character wouldn't look intimidated on screen.
• During the shoot of Sondham (1973), Sivakumar's wife fell ill. Vijaya quietly took over cooking for his family on set for two weeks. Neither of them ever spoke about it publicly — a crew member revealed it decades later.
• Their pairing in Dheerga Sumangali (1974) was so well-received that it directly inspired a wave of 'family drama' films in the mid-70s, where the lead couple had to navigate in-laws and societal pressure. At least three Tamil directors from that era cited this film as their template.
• After PudhuYugam (1985) flopped, they never worked together again. But Sivakumar called Vijaya every Pongal for the next 15 years — just to check in. She said in a 2001 interview that he was the only co-star who never missed that call.
