Villu(2009)
Villu is a 2009 Indian Tamil-language action comedy film directed by Prabhu Deva and produced by Ayngaran International. The film stars Vijay in a dual role as father and son, alongside Nayanthara, Prakash Raj, and Vadivelu. The story follows Pugazh, a highly educated undercover police officer, who seeks to avenge his father's death and restore his family's honor after the father is falsely branded a traitor by corrupt army officers. The film is a remake of the 1998 Hindi film Soldier. Villu received negative reviews from critics and was a commercial failure at the domestic box office, though it performed well overseas. The film's music, composed by Devi Sri Prasad, and Vadivelu's comedy were noted as its strongest elements. Villu was released on January 12, 2009.
