• Pandu and Kushboo first paired up in 'Pattukku Naan Adimai' (1990) because the director, Rama Narayanan, wanted a fresh-looking couple for a village drama. He picked Pandu for his raw energy and Kushboo for her star power — and the gamble paid off.
• In 'Nadigan' (1990), Pandu played a loud, impulsive hero while Kushboo played the calm, sharp-tongued foil. She would deliberately slow down her dialogue delivery to make his frantic energy pop — a trick she learned from watching him rehearse.
• On the sets of 'Rickshaw Mama' (1992), Pandu would bring homemade snacks for the crew every day. Kushboo later said in an interview that she started sitting next to him during lunch just to steal his murukku.
• Their 1996 film 'Irattai Roja' was one of the first Tamil films to use a double-role twist for the heroine. That gimmick directly inspired a wave of similar twin-sister plots in the late 90s, including 'Kadhalukku Mariyadhai' (1997).
• Kushboo once told a magazine: 'Pandu was the only co-star who never once made me feel like a star. He treated me like a friend who just happened to be on set.'
• After a 12-year gap, they reunited for 'Villu' (2009) — but only because Pandu insisted on playing Kushboo's father. He told the director he'd rather play her dad than her lover, because 'that's what we look like now.'
