• Manobala didn't just direct Nayantara in 'Yaaradi Nee Mohini' (2008) — he actually discovered her for Tamil cinema. He saw her in a Malayalam film and personally convinced the producers to cast her opposite M. Sasikumar. That film put both of them on the map in Tamil.
• On the sets of 'Villu' (2009), Nayantara would quietly rewrite her own lines in Tamil because Manobala trusted her instinct over the script. He'd just nod and say 'enna da, nee correct-a sollu' — and she'd deliver the scene her way. That's why her comic timing in that film feels so natural.
• Manobala and Nayantara had a running joke: every time they wrapped a film, he'd gift her a box of Mysore Pak. She'd pretend to complain it was too sweet, but he kept doing it for all six films. Lasted from 2008 to 2019.
• Their 2019 horror film 'Airaa' was a sleeper hit — and it directly inspired two other low-budget Tamil horror films the next year. Manobala later said in an interview that Nayantara's willingness to do a no-makeup, raw performance made the genre suddenly bankable for female-led horror.
• Manobala once said about Nayantara: 'She is the only actress who can make a director look good even when the script is bad. I know — I gave her three bad scripts and she still saved my face.' He said this at a press meet for 'Mr. Local' (2019).
• In 'Bigil' (2019), Manobala played a small role as a football coach — but he and Nayantara had zero scenes together. Still, he showed up on set just to watch her shoot the climax. She later said his presence calmed her nerves before the big emotional scene.
