• Manobala and Anandaraj first shared screen space in Thozhar Pandian (1994), but the real spark came when Manobala turned director for Diwan (2003) and cast Anandaraj in a key role — it was Manobala's directorial debut that cemented their on-screen partnership.
• In Bigil (2019), Manobala played the comic sidekick to Anandaraj's stern father figure — their scenes worked because Manobala's timing gave Anandaraj's deadpan delivery room to land. Anandaraj once said Manobala 'knew exactly when to pause so my punchline hit harder.'
