Partnership facts

• Their first film together, Singaravelan (1992), almost didn't happen. Director R. V. Udayakumar was hesitant to cast Vadivelu as the comedian opposite Kushboo because he was relatively unknown at the time. Kushboo herself pushed for him after seeing his stage work.
• In Rojavai Killathe (1993), Vadivelu's character was written as a sidekick who constantly gets into trouble. Kushboo's character would scold him in a specific high-pitched tone — a dynamic that became their trademark. She set the rhythm; he reacted with exaggerated panic. Audiences loved the push-pull.
• During the shoot of Jolly (1998), Kushboo would often bring homemade snacks for the crew. Vadivelu later admitted in an interview that she made sure he ate properly on set because he was always too shy to ask for food.
• The success of their comic pairing in Viralukketha Veekkam (1999) directly inspired director K. S. Ravikumar to cast them again in Koodi Vazhndhal Kodi Nanmai (2000). That film's comedy track between them became a template for many 2000s Tamil comedies featuring a loud heroine and a nervous sidekick.
• Vadivelu once said in a 2002 interview: 'Kushboo madam was the only heroine who never complained when I improvised lines. She would just laugh and tell the director to keep the camera rolling.'
• In Sri Bannari Amman (2002), their only devotional film together, Kushboo played a goddess and Vadivelu played a comedic devotee. The contrast — her divine calm vs. his frantic devotion — created a bizarre but memorable energy that fans still talk about.
