Kandukondain Kandukondain is a 2000 Indian Tamil-language romantic musical film directed and co-written by Rajiv Menon. The ensemble cast includes Mammootty, Ajith Kumar, Tabu, Aishwarya Rai, and Abbas. The film is an adaptation of Jane Austen's 1811 novel Sense and Sensibility, transplanted to modern-day Tamil Nadu. It follows two sisters, Sowmya and Meenakshi, who lose their family home and must navigate love and hardship in Chennai. The soundtrack was composed by A. R. Rahman, with lyrics by Vairamuthu. The film won a National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer and two Filmfare Awards South. It was commercially successful and completed 150 days at the Tamil Nadu box office. The film was released on 5 May 2000.

Storyline
Two sisters lose their family home after their grandfather dies. Sowmya is practical and responsible. Meenakshi is romantic and passionate. They move to Chennai with nothing. Sowmya finds work and falls in love with a struggling film director. Meenakshi falls for a charming businessman. But a wounded soldier named Bala also loves Meenakshi. The sisters must choose between sense and sensibility.
