A. Jagannathan (1935–2012) was an Indian film director who worked primarily in Tamil cinema, known for directing nearly 50 films over a career spanning from the early 1970s to the late 1980s. His biggest commercial successes include Moondru Mugam (1982), a Rajinikanth-starrer in which the superstar played three distinct roles, which ran for 250 days in theatres, and Thanga Magan (1983), also starring Rajinikanth. He trained as an assistant director under T. Prakash Rao and P. Neelakantan, primarily on MGR films, before making his directorial debut with Manipayal (1973). He also directed Kadhal Parisu (1987) featuring Kamal Haasan, and Vellai Roja with Sivaji Ganesan, which earned Filmfare Award recognition.
