• They first shared screen space in 'Do Aur Do Paanch' (1980), a comedy where Shashi Kapoor played a conman and Kader Khan played his straight-laced boss. The director, Rakesh Roshan, paired them specifically because he wanted Shashi's charm to bounce off Kader's deadpan timing — a combo he'd never tried before.
• In 'Ganga Aur Suraj' (1980), Kader Khan wrote the dialogue and also acted opposite Shashi. On set, Shashi would deliberately flub his lines in the first take just to make Kader laugh — then they'd lock the second take, which always had a looser, more natural rhythm.
• Kader Khan once said in an interview that Shashi Kapoor was the only co-star who'd call him 'Kader bhai' even when the cameras weren't rolling. They'd share chai between shots and discuss Urdu poetry — Shashi would recite, Kader would correct the meter.
