Partnership facts

• Sriman and Anandaraj first shared screen space in Diwan (2003), but their real partnership kicked off when director Vishnuvardhan cast them as the villain duo in Pokkiri (2007). Anandaraj later said Vishnuvardhan deliberately paired them because Sriman’s cool, calculated menace balanced his own explosive rage.
• In Pokkiri, Sriman played the silent, planning henchman while Anandaraj was the loud, muscle-heavy enforcer. They never shared a single dialogue in the film — their scenes worked purely on physical contrast: Sriman’s stillness against Anandaraj’s constant movement.
• During the shoot of Nayagan (2008), Sriman and Anandaraj shared a room in a budget lodge in Chennai for three weeks. Anandaraj cooked chicken curry every Sunday, and Sriman — a strict vegetarian then — would step out until the smell cleared. They still joke about it.
• Their double-act in Pokkiri directly inspired the villain pairing in Singam (2010) — director Hari admitted in an interview that he wanted a similar 'quiet psycho + loud brute' combo, which led to him casting Prakash Raj and Nasser in those roles.
• Anandaraj once told a Tamil magazine: 'Sriman is the only co-star who made me feel like I was acting in a silent film. He’d just stare, and I’d have to scream louder to fill the silence.'
• After Villu (2009) bombed, both actors didn’t speak for nearly a year. They patched up only when a mutual friend forced them into the same green room at a TV awards show in 2011. They hugged it out on stage mid-show.
