• Shoma Anand was the one who pushed for K. Bapaiah to cast her in 'Aaj Ka Daur' (1985). She had just done a hit with him in Telugu and convinced him she could work in Hindi too. He was hesitant because her Hindi wasn't great yet.
• On the set of 'Swarag Se Sunder' (1986), Bapaiah would let Shoma Anand improvise her comic lines in Telugu-accented Hindi. He thought her natural delivery was funnier than the scripted dialogue. She ended up rewriting half her scenes on the spot.
• Their fourth film together, 'Pyar Ka Mandir' (1988), was the only one that made money. That film's success directly led to Bapaiah casting Shoma in his next two Telugu projects — she became his go-to 'lucky charm' for a brief period.
• During the shoot of 'Aag Aur Shola' (1986), Bapaiah and Shoma Anand had a massive fight over a scene. She walked off set for two days. He eventually called her hotel room and apologized — the only time he ever apologized to an actor in his career, according to a crew member.
• Shoma Anand once said in a 1990 interview: 'Bapaiah saab never praised me. Not once. But he kept casting me. That was his way of saying I was good.'
