• Senthamarai and Major Sundarrajan first shared screen space in 'Akka Thangai' (1969) because the director, M. A. Thirumugam, specifically wanted a pair who could play brothers with contrasting temperaments — Sundarrajan's booming authority against Senthamarai's quiet intensity. The casting was locked after a single test scene.
• In 'Chitra Pournami' (1976), Sundarrajan deliberately slowed his dialogue delivery in their confrontation scene so Senthamarai's pauses would land harder. Senthamarai later told a magazine that Sundarrajan would whisper 'wait for my breath' before every take — that rhythm became the scene's signature.
• On the sets of 'Naan Vazhavaippen' (1979), the two would share a single cup of filter coffee every morning before the first shot — Sundarrajan would drink half, then pass it to Senthamarai. The unit called it 'the handover ritual' and no one else was allowed to touch that cup.
• Their brotherly chemistry in 'Akka Thangai' directly inspired K. Balachander to cast them as estranged siblings in a TV serial pilot in 1978 — that pilot never aired, but it convinced Balachander to write more male-bonding roles for the duo.
