• Director A. P. Nagarajan cast Thengai Srinivasan as a comic relief in 'Penn Deivam' (1970) specifically to balance Padmini's intense dramatic scenes. Srinivasan later said Nagarajan told him: 'She will make them cry. You make them laugh right after.'
• In 'Annai Velankanni' (1971), Padmini deliberately slowed her dialogue delivery in their shared scenes so Thengai Srinivasan's rapid-fire comic timing would pop harder. She told the dubbing engineer to leave his track untouched — no reverb, no echo — so his voice cut through hers like a whip.
• During the shoot of 'Uzhaikkum Karangal' (1976), Thengai Srinivasan would bring Padmini homemade murukku every morning. She later revealed in an interview that he was the only co-star who remembered she was allergic to coconut and made sure the snacks were coconut-free.
