• Their first film together, En Thangachi Padichava (1988), was a comedy where Prabhu played a protective brother. Anandaraj was cast as the villain who harasses his sister. The director, Manivannan, reportedly paired them because he wanted a raw, physical contrast — Prabhu's softness against Anandaraj's menace.
• In Oruvar Vazhum Aalayam (1988), Prabhu and Anandaraj played brothers for the first time. Anandaraj later said in an interview that Prabhu would deliberately slow down his dialogue delivery during their scenes together, forcing Anandaraj to match his rhythm — which made their confrontations feel more tense and real.
• Despite playing rivals in most of their films, Prabhu and Anandaraj were close friends off-screen. During the shoot of Kummi Paattu (1999), Anandaraj would bring homemade biryani to the set every Friday, and the two would eat together in Prabhu's van — a ritual they kept up for all their subsequent films.
• Their 2003 film Yes Madam was a rare comedy where both played bumbling sidekicks to a female lead. It directly inspired the 2005 spoof comedy Chandramukhi (no relation to the Rajinikanth film) — a low-budget parody that became a cult hit in Tamil B-movie circles.
• In Johnny (2018), their last film together, Prabhu played a retired don and Anandaraj played his loyal henchman — reversing their usual power dynamic. Director Vetrimaaran said he cast them specifically to subvert audience expectations, and the scene where Anandaraj silently hands Prabhu a gun became a talking point among fans.
