Partnership facts

• Anandaraj and Charle first met on the sets of Senthoora Poove (1988) — but they almost didn't share a single scene. The director, T. Rajendar, rewrote the script overnight after seeing them rehearse together, turning their characters into a comic duo that audiences loved.
• In Pudhumai Pithan (1998), Charle played the straight man to Anandaraj's loud, over-the-top villain sidekick. Charle later said in an interview that he had to physically pull Anandaraj back during takes because he kept improvising wild gestures that would break frame.
• During the shoot of Pooveli (1998), Anandaraj and Charle shared a small room in a lodge near the Kodaikanal location for three weeks. They reportedly cooked their own meals because the unit food was bad, and Charle taught Anandaraj how to make basic sambar.
• Charle once told a fan magazine: 'Anandaraj and I never planned to be a pair. But after Senthoora Poove, directors kept casting us together because we looked like two sides of the same coin — one loud, one quiet. We just clicked.'
• Their comic timing in Senthoora Poove (1988) directly inspired director K. S. Ravikumar to cast them together again in a cameo for his 1999 film Minsara Kanna — a scene that was later cut from the final release, but the rushes still circulate among collectors.
