Senthoora Poove(1988)
Senthoora Poove is a 1988 Indian Tamil-language romantic action drama film directed by P. R. Devaraj. The lead cast includes Vijayakanth, Ramki, and Nirosha. The story follows Captain Soundarapandian, a terminally ill soldier who escapes from a hospital to save a young woman named Ponni from her cruel stepmother. The narrative intercuts between his past trauma and the present rescue mission. The film is notable for giving Vijayakanth the enduring nickname 'Captain'. It received mixed critical reviews but performed well at the box office, grossing ₹2.5 crore. Vijayakanth won the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Actor for his performance. The film was released on 23 September 1988.
