• Their first film together, Vengaiyin Maindhan (1984), almost didn't happen. Director S. A. Chandrasekhar had to convince a reluctant Vijayakanth to pair with Nalini — he thought she was too young and inexperienced. Chandrasekhar bet on her raw energy, and the gamble paid off.
• Nalini once said in an interview that Vijayakanth would deliberately slow down his dialogue delivery in emotional scenes so she could catch up and match his intensity. He set the rhythm; she filled the gaps with her eyes. That's why their silences together felt louder than most actors' screams.
• Their 1987 hit Veera Pandiyan directly inspired the 1990 blockbuster Pudhu Vasantham — director S. A. Chandrasekhar reused the same core conflict structure (a righteous hero vs. a corrupt system) and even cast Nalini again in a similar role. Without their chemistry in Veera Pandiyan, that film's template wouldn't exist.
• On the sets of Alai Osai (1985) — the film that tanked with a 1/10 rating — Nalini and Vijayakanth reportedly didn't speak to each other for three days after a fight over a scene's staging. They patched up only when the director locked them in a makeup room until they sorted it out. They never fought on set again.
