• Srividya was the bigger star when they first worked together in Manju Virattu (1994). Murali was still finding his footing in Tamil cinema. She reportedly agreed to the film only after the director assured her Murali would match her intensity in the emotional scenes.
• In Thondan (1995), Murali played a hot-headed village tough guy. Srividya played the calm, suffering wife. The director said Murali would pace around before takes, working himself up. Srividya would sit still and whisper lines to him — she set the rhythm for their scenes together.
• During the shoot of Manju Virattu, Murali’s mother was hospitalized. Srividya quietly arranged for a car to take him to the hospital every evening after pack-up. He later said in an interview that she never told anyone — he found out from the driver years later.
• Murali once said about Srividya: 'She didn't act with me. She acted for me. In Thondan, when she cries, I don't have to act — her tears pull my performance out.' He said this in a 2002 interview promoting Kamarasu.
• Their pairing in Manju Virattu directly inspired director R. K. Selvamani to cast them again in Thondan. That film later became a template for the 'angry young man with a suffering wife' trope in mid-90s Tamil B-movies.
