• Mohan was already a star when he signed Vidhi (1984), but K. Vijayan was a debutant director. Vijayan had to convince Mohan's producer to let him direct — Mohan himself pushed for Vijayan after reading the script in one sitting.
• On the sets of Osai (1984), Vijayan would let Mohan rewrite his own dialogues in the moment. Mohan's natural, conversational Tamil gave the film a realism that Vijayan's original script didn't have — and Vijayan kept that approach for all their later films.
• Thambatyam (1987) was the first Tamil film to use a single-song flashback structure that later became a staple for directors like Balu Mahendra. Vijayan and Mohan's gamble on that non-linear edit directly influenced how 90s Tamil romances told their stories.
• After Krishnan Vandhan (1987) flopped, Vijayan called Mohan at 2 AM and said he was quitting films. Mohan drove to his house, sat with him till sunrise, and talked him into directing one more film — Thambatyam. They never worked together again after that.
