• Sivakumar and Senthamarai first shared screen space in 'Annai Abirami' (1972) because the director wanted a mother-son pair that felt raw and real — Senthamarai was only 12 years older than Sivakumar, but she played his mother with such authority that audiences believed every tear.
• In 'Uravu Solla Oruvan' (1975), Senthamarai deliberately slowed her dialogue delivery to match Sivakumar's natural rhythm — she told the press later that he 'acted with his eyes, not his mouth,' so she gave him space to let those close-ups land.
• Their third and final film together, 'Kavikkuyil' (1977), was the first Tamil movie where Senthamarai played a mother to a grown son who wasn't a hero — Sivakumar's character was a poet with a disability, and their scenes together directly inspired the mother-son dynamic in 'Mouna Ragam' (1986) a decade later.
• On the sets of all three films, Senthamarai would bring homemade snacks for Sivakumar between takes — she called him 'thambi' (younger brother) off-camera, and he called her 'akka' (elder sister), a bond that lasted until her death in 1997.
• Sivakumar once said in a 1980s interview: 'Senthamarai akka didn't just act with me — she taught me how to cry on cue without glycerin. She'd whisper a line from her own life, and I'd break down naturally.'
