• Hema Malini and Shakti Kapoor first shared screen space in 'Farz Aur Kanoon' (1982) because the director, K. Bapaiah, needed a villain who could match Hema's star power in a courtroom drama. Shakti was already known for his loud, over-the-top roles, but Bapaiah specifically asked him to tone it down so Hema's character could dominate the scenes.
• In 'Tyaagi' (1992), Shakti Kapoor played a lecherous landlord opposite Hema Malini's village belle. The trick they used: Shakti would deliberately overact in the first take, then Hema would underplay her reaction in the second take. The director kept the version where Hema's stillness made Shakti's creepiness feel more real.
• During the shoot of 'Shimla Mirchi' (2019), Hema Malini personally requested Shakti Kapoor to play her character's husband. They hadn't worked together in 27 years. Shakti later told a friend that Hema called him and said, 'Come, let's make one more film before we both retire.'

• The only reason 'Shimla Mirchi' (2019) got made was because Hema Malini and Shakti Kapoor agreed to work together again. The film's producer had been struggling to cast a veteran couple for the subplot. Once Hema and Shakti signed on, the rest of the cast fell into place within two weeks.
