• They first met on the set of Paayum Puli (1983), but Janagaraj almost didn't get the role. Director S.P. Muthuraman wanted a different comedian. Sathyaraj insisted on Janagaraj after seeing him in a stage play. That one phone call from Sathyaraj changed Janagaraj's film career.
• In Nooravathu Naal (1984), Sathyaraj played a serious cop while Janagaraj was his bumbling sidekick. But here's the trick: Janagaraj would deliberately flub his lines to make Sathyaraj break character. Sathyaraj would then improvise a deadpan comeback. That back-and-forth became their signature — one sets the trap, the other springs it.
• Their comedy track in Kadalora Kavithaigal (1986) was so popular that it directly inspired a separate spin-off comedy series on Tamil television a decade later. The channel re-edited their scenes into standalone episodes. Two comedians, eight films, and they accidentally created a template for the 'buddy comedy' in Tamil cinema.
• On the sets of Jallikattu (1987), a film that bombed hard, Sathyaraj and Janagaraj made a pact: no matter how bad the film, they'd never blame each other in interviews. They kept that promise. Even when the film got a 4/10 from critics, both took equal responsibility publicly.
