• Teja cast Tanikella Bharani in Nuvvu Nenu (2001) after being impressed by his work in the play 'Kanyasulkam'. Bharani was initially hesitant about the film's experimental tone, but Teja convinced him over a single coffee meeting.
• On the sets of Oka Pellam Muddu Rendo Pellam Vaddu (2004), Teja would rewrite Bharani's dialogues on the spot, and Bharani would improvise further. The final scene in the film where Bharani's character breaks the fourth wall was entirely improvised by him — Teja kept the camera rolling.
• Their 2012 film Neeku Naaku Dash Dash introduced a new comedic timing style in Telugu cinema — rapid-fire back-and-forth exchanges between Bharani and the lead actor. Several later comedy films (like 'Jai Simha' and 'Acharya') directly copied that rhythm for their comic tracks.
