• Sripriya was just 17 when she first acted opposite Jaishankar in 'Thottadhellam Ponnaagum' (1975). He was already a established star. She later said she was so nervous on the first day that he had to calm her down by joking about his own flubbed lines.
• Jaishankar was known for his intense, brooding style. Sripriya brought out a lighter, more playful side in him. In 'Nee Oru Magarani' (1976), he actually cracked a smile during a romantic scene — something his earlier co-stars rarely got from him.
• Their 1978 film 'Ullathil Kuzhanthaiyadi' was a sleeper hit that directly inspired a wave of 'family comedy' films in the early 80s. Director Visu later admitted he wrote his 1983 hit 'Samsaram Enbathu Veenai' after watching how naturally this pair handled domestic comedy.
• Off-screen, they were total opposites. Jaishankar was a chain-smoking introvert who read philosophy between shots. Sripriya was a chatterbox who organized birthday parties for the entire crew. Yet they never had a single fight on set across 14 films.
• Sripriya once told a magazine: 'Jaishankar sir never treated me like a child actress. He would discuss the scene with me as an equal. That's why I never felt like a junior artiste with him.'
