Partnership facts

• Vaiyapuri and Madhan Bob first met on the sets of Maanaseega Kadhal (1999). The director, K. Selva Bharathy, paired them as comic relief after seeing them individually in stage plays. Neither had done a full comedy track together before this film.
• In Pennin Manathai Thottu (2000), Vaiyapuri would set up the joke with his fast, nervous delivery, and Madhan Bob would finish it with a deadpan pause. They never rehearsed — they just nodded at each other before the take and went with it.
• During the shoot of Vishwa Thulasi (2004), Vaiyapuri and Madhan Bob shared a room in a small lodge near the set. They spent nights rewriting each other's lines on hotel napkins. Madhan Bob later said that's where they figured out their rhythm.
• Market Raja MBBS (2019) was a surprise hit largely because of their comedy track. It directly led to the director, S. S. Murugan, casting them again in Yaman Kattalai (2025) — the only time a director brought them back as a pair after a gap of 15 years.
• Madhan Bob once told a fan page: 'Vaiyapuri is the only actor who can make me laugh even when I'm not in the scene. I'd watch his takes from behind the monitor and ruin my own shot.'
• After Market Raja MBBS became a hit, Vaiyapuri and Madhan Bob started a small WhatsApp group with their families. They still send each other memes and old photos from the Vishwa Thulasi lodge days.
