Partnership facts

• In Custody (1993) was the first time they shared screen space. Director Ismail Merchant cast Om Puri as the poet and Tinnu Anand as his devoted fan. Tinnu later said Om insisted on rehearsing their scenes together for hours, even though Tinnu had only a supporting role.
• In Chupke Se (2003), Om Puri played a grumpy father and Tinnu Anand played his comic sidekick. Tinnu would deliberately flub his lines to make Om break character. Om would then scold him on set, but the director kept those takes because the irritation looked real on camera.
• Tinnu Anand and Om Puri were close friends off-screen. Tinnu once said Om would crash at his house whenever he was in Mumbai without a booking. They'd stay up all night arguing about cricket and politics, then show up to set the next morning looking wrecked.
• Tinnu Anand said about Om Puri: 'He was the only actor who could make me forget my lines just by staring at me. I'd be mid-dialogue and he'd give me that look, and I'd just laugh. We ruined so many takes that way.'
• Their only comedy together, Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya (2012), was a rare lighthearted pairing. The film's producer later said the casting of Tinnu and Om as bickering uncles directly inspired the comic duo in the 2014 hit 'Happy New Year' — though that film never credited them.
