• Mahesh Bhatt cast Soni Razdan in Saaransh (1984) after seeing her in a small role in a TV play. He later admitted he was nervous because she was a theatre actor and he wasn't sure she could handle the raw, naturalistic style he wanted. She proved him wrong on day one.
• On the set of Aashiana (1986), Bhatt would give Razdan just one line of motivation before a scene — no dialogue rehearsal. She had to improvise the rest. He said her instinct was faster than his writing.
• Bhatt and Razdan were married in 1986, right after Aashiana released. They kept it quiet for years because Bhatt was still married to his first wife. Razdan later said she didn't even tell her own mother until after the wedding.
