• They first shared screen space in 'Jaani Dost' (1983), but the pairing almost didn't happen. Kader Khan was initially hesitant to play a negative role opposite a much younger Sridevi. Director K. Raghavendra Rao convinced him by rewriting the part to add more comic shades.
• In 'Himmatwala' (1983), Kader Khan's dialogue delivery set the rhythm for Sridevi's reactions. He would pause mid-sentence to let her comic timing land — a trick he learned from watching her improvise on set. She later said he was the only co-star who 'fed her lines like a tabla player feeds a dancer.'
• Their film 'Mawaali' (1983) directly inspired the Tamil remake 'Naan Sigappu Manithan' (1985). The original Hindi version's success convinced producers to cast Sridevi in the Tamil remake too — making her the first actress to reprise her own role across two languages from the same script.
• During the shoot of 'Akalmand' (1984), Kader Khan would write Sridevi's Hindi dialogues in Roman script on a chalkboard before every scene. She couldn't read Devanagari, and he refused to let anyone else do it — said he 'owed it to her craft.' They'd rehearse for 20 minutes before each take.
• Kader Khan once said about Sridevi: 'She had no ego. In 'Ghar Sansar' (1986), she insisted I sit in her vanity van because mine had no AC. I told her, "Beta, I'm the villain." She said, "You're my teacher." I never forgot that.'
• In 'Naya Kadam' (1984), Kader Khan deliberately flubbed a line in the first take to make Sridevi laugh — and the director kept that take. It became the film's most replayed scene. She later admitted she couldn't look him in the eye during serious scenes because he'd make her crack up.
