• They first worked together in Jaandaar (1979) because Vinod Mehra personally requested Aruna Irani for the role. The producer wanted a bigger name, but Vinod insisted — he had seen her work in a Gujarati film and felt she'd bring a raw energy the script needed.
• In Dial 100 (1982), Aruna Irani's character was the calm, street-smart one while Vinod Mehra played the impulsive cop. Aruna later said in an interview that Vinod would deliberately speed up his dialogue delivery in their scenes together, forcing her to match his pace — which made their banter feel genuinely electric.
• Aruna Irani and Vinod Mehra were close friends off-screen. During the shoot of Mitti Aur Sona (1989), Vinod would often drive Aruna home after late-night schedules because she didn't like taking cabs alone. She once joked that he was 'the only co-star who remembered my address without asking.'
• Aruna Irani said about Vinod Mehra in a 1995 interview: 'He was the only actor who would rehearse with me even when the director said it wasn't needed. He treated every scene like a live performance.'
